Edith Mathis Mozart master classes

Edith Mathis was to give special master classes in Mozart operas and German lieder and song during the second period of the 2012 Festival. This has now been postponed until 2013.

Edith Mathis was for many years Professor for Lied-Interpretation at the University of Music in Vienna. She still holds masterclasses and works as jury-member at international singing competitions.

She has worked with Rafael Kubelik, Leonard Bernstein, Herbert v. Karajan, Karl Boehm, Colin Davies, amongst others, and has performed at London Covent Garden Opera, Metropolitan Opera New York, Opera de Paris, Salzburg- and Glyndebourne Festival, Wiener Staatsoper. Her major roles were Cherubin/Susanna/Countess (Le Nozze de Figaro), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Marzellina (Fidelio), Ännchen ( Freischütz), Sophie/Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) and Zdenka (Arabella).
