I am a 27-year-old viola student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Langley campus. I started playing the violin when I was 5 years old, and switched to viola when I was 15. This is my first year studying music academically, before which, I studied mathematics at Langara College and Simon Fraser University. I performed mostly Classical music in the Delta Youth Orchestra, starting in September of 1996, and continuing until June 2013. Now, I perform in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, where we perform many different genres. I switched from mathematics to music, because I enjoyed playing in orchestras so much that I wanted to perform professionally. My favourite repertoire is Classical music, and my favourite Classical composition has always been Beethoven’s 6th Symphony. Before I began my studies at Kwantlen, I studied viola privately with James Malmberg. Now that I study viola for school, I study with Nikita Pogrebnoy.
