Aisa Sayama – Canada

Aisa Sayama started piano when she was five years old and won her first piano competition at the Okinawa Prefecture Piano Competition at the age of seven. After she immigrated to Canada in June of 2004, she had participated and won in several local festivals including the Coquitlam District Music Festival, Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival, Chilliwack Lion’s Club Music Festival, and Burnaby Clef Music Festival.

She was also awarded first place at the BC Provincial Festival junior piano category in May, 2009. On November of that same year, she was selected to go to pianist Lang Lang’s master class held in Vancouver, to represent the top 20 pianists in British Columbia. In January 2010, she was asked to perform her Saint Saens Piano Concerto #2 with the Fraser Valley Symphony Orchestra. Her piano trio also won the Friends of Chamber Music Competition in March 2010, and were awarded third place at the National Music Festival held in Montreal, Quebec in August 2010.

She is currently studying piano with Mr. Leslie Janos at the Langley Community Music School, and she will be representing senior solo piano as well as senior chamber music category at the BC Provincial Festival this coming May. She finished her ARCT Performer’s Exam with First Class Honour with Distinction in June, 2010.
